Aesthetic Training FAQs

We train licensed medical professionals and estheticians in advanced aesthetics courses and advanced skin and body care services. Additionally, we are a Board Licensed Micropigmentation/Permanent Cosmetics Academy, training unlicensed individuals in the art of permanent cosmetics. Please be advised, we are not a beauty school or college; therefore, we do not offer an esthetician or nursing degree. Instead, we can help you become a Licensed Permanent Cosmetic Specialist, which is a unique licensure regulated by the board of health. This approach is ideal for career changers or anyone artistic and passionate about learning how to excel in the booming $34 billion dollar med spa beauty industry! Our permanent makeup artists, estheticians, and nurses who complete our med spa training often find employment in med spas, doctors' offices, or establish their own private practices alongside other aesthetic professionals. Notably, even during a pandemic, the medical spa industry saw rapid growth fueled by the rise of Zoom calls highlighting how individuals perceive themselves! The average hourly wage for a proficient Licensed Permanent Cosmetic Specialist exceeds $100, with spa owners earning about $120,000 per year according to The American Medical Spa Association. Aesthetic professionals generally earn between $75,000 and $100,000 annually!

Renew Image seems like the best choice for education but why are most courses only 1 Day?

Our programs are NOT limited to just One Day. Our courses are classified as advanced aesthetics courses, incorporating a hybrid structure. The in-person One Day sessions serve as clinicals or hands-on practicals; however, prior to attending your hands-on clinical, you will be required to read and study course materials. It's crucial to practice after your clinicals to achieve proficiency. The more you practice, the quicker you will transition from a beginner to an expert in the field of med spa training! If you are a licensed professional, you are expected to have a foundational understanding of the skin, wound healing, and bloodborne pathogens required to take our courses and practice legally and safely. Upon registration for any class, we will email you all necessary training materials and information that should be read prior to the session. You may print these materials if you wish, but it is not essential. Remember, perfection is not expected after just one day of hands-on clinical training; we anticipate that you will continue to practice the techniques provided until you master them as a permanent cosmetic specialist.

How can I enroll and pay for my course fees?

Unlike other training providers, we customize all our advanced aesthetics courses to your specific needs and schedule. Our med spa training programs are conveniently scheduled from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm. A credit card registration fee is required to reserve your date with us; this fee goes toward your tuition and is non-refundable. Your course is not officially scheduled until the deposit is received. For more information, feel free to book your own free in-person academic consultation after browsing our website. As soon as you schedule your course with us, you will receive an email confirmation and text reminders. Our instructors will also send your training manual or reading materials and will call or email you with any special instructions you may need before class. Most classes are one day long, and the average study time prior to hands-on clinical training is one to two days at your pace. Additionally, we offer business consulting for those interested in becoming a permanent cosmetic specialist or starting their own spa or med spa for an additional charge.

Do I receive supply kits and manuals with my course?

Yes! We provide supplies for practicing in class, and manuals are included in your tuition price for our advanced aesthetics courses. Our focus is on delivering high-quality one-on-one or small group education, essential for you to practice safely and legally as a permanent cosmetic specialist. There are no hidden fees or extra charges for these supplies! After your academic consultation, you will register for your course and pay the deposit to secure your med spa training class date. We will then send you an email with reading materials. It’s important to complete this reading before attending class, as it serves as the virtual portion of your training. The days you spend in class will be dedicated to hands-on clinical practice. Please note that we do not mail hard copies of manuals or course materials, as many of our students come from out of town and need immediate access to the reading.

Where do I purchase equipment and supplies?

Before your advanced aesthetics courses, we will discuss where and how you can purchase quality, affordable, and FDA cleared equipment necessary for your med spa training. We work closely with our partners at MRP, who can assist you in sourcing these items at the best price. Details, supply lists, and vendor lists will be provided during class. Additionally, you will receive information on ordering consumables such as needle cartridges, hydradermabrasion serums, and back bar products, all of which are essential for a permanent cosmetic specialist.

What if I need to cancel a course?

We understand that emergencies can arise and special circumstances may pose challenges. For our advanced aesthetics courses and med spa training, we require a minimum of five business days to cancel or reschedule a booking. Please note that no refunds are ever issued for booking deposits or course fees to hold your place in class, regardless of whether you are training as a permanent cosmetic specialist or participating in any of our other offerings. Intellectual learning material will be sent out prior to your course dates. However, you can apply your booking deposit to a future class date when you reschedule, and this deposit will go towards your course. Remember, the deposit is nontransferable and cannot be assigned to another person in your place.

Can the school find models for me?

You will be required to arrange one or two models for your live, hands-on portion of the advanced aesthetics courses. It is usually easier to perform a service on someone you know. If you are taking a one-day med spa training class, your model should arrive at 11 am and will be expected to stay as late as 3 pm. If for some reason you cannot arrange your own model, we can arrange one for you with one week’s notice for an additional $99. We charge this fee because it takes time to prequalify and book models. Rest assured, models achieve good results and are under the direct supervision of highly trained instructors—plus, they are in the best hands, yours! All filler and Botox models will only be charged for the cost of the product used. This applies to our aspiring permanent cosmetic specialists as well.

What should I bring to class?

As you prepare to embark on your advanced aesthetics courses within our clinical setting, we recommend the following: Dress in scrubs or professional attire, and bring a notebook and pen. Since our med spa training sessions often extend into lunch hours, please pack snacks and lunch, as we cannot guarantee a long break. Beverages and snacks will be available, and we are conveniently located just half a mile from a variety of restaurants and fine dining options for your convenience as you train to become a permanent cosmetic specialist.

What kind of certificate do a I get after this course?

We are a nationally recognized body of training offering advanced aesthetics courses, and you will receive board-recognized certificates of attendance with your instructor. If you are a licensed professional, and your board mandates that you undergo additional training and certification to perform med spa services under your own scope of practice, you will be legally permitted to perform these services as soon as you complete our course. We highly recommend securing professional liability insurance to ensure you are covered before offering your services. For those enrolling in our permanent cosmetics courses, such as microblading or scalp micropigmentation, you will receive your certificate of training and will be able to legally perform these services after obtaining a permit from the health board to operate. Additionally, we provide valuable information on insurance and business start-up support, as well as guidance to help you obtain your license. While we do not offer continuing education hours for licensed professionals, we encourage you to check with your respective state boards for further details on continuing education requirements. Although we do not provide legal advice, we offer free academic consultations prior to booking a course to help address any questions you may have about becoming a permanent cosmetic specialist.

What is the specific location of your training facility?

All courses, including our advanced aesthetics courses, are taught at our luxury training facility located in Cincinnati, Ohio, at 7182 Liberty Centre Drive, Suite O, Liberty Township, Ohio 45069. We recommend the AC Marriott at The Liberty Center, just a half mile from our office, where you can enjoy fine dining, entertainment, and shopping after your med spa training or while becoming a permanent cosmetic specialist.
